New Software – Mule ESB

We have worked very hard to proudly present our skills on Mule ESB (www.mulesoft.org). It is a great Enterprise Business Integration Suite. It is based on Java and gives a broad range of configurable operations that can be „glued“ together to connect various data sources and consumers. Our experience in the field has led us to discuss such a program internally, but we are most pleased that someone took the case and offers a ready to used solid software.

We currently work on a business migration from one software to another with the help of Mule. Usually, migrating from one system to another is very complex and usually error prone. With Mule ESB it is possible to make the old system temporarily look like the new one, or the new one to look like the old one, thus giving a chance to make the migration step by step. Every manager who has had experiences in this field will make a sigh of relieve! It is just that awesome.

New Project at ESG!

We are proud to anounce that ESG GmbH has prolonged our commitment at their site in Garching!

Unlike our last Project this one is almost purely research. The question is how can we benefit with big-data technologies in order to make analytics on car measurement traces and predictions on failure or errors.

We delve into the world of Apache’s Hadoop: hdfs and yarn. We plan on using Spark to run analytics on the data.

But before we can do anything, we have been asked to plan and install a Cluster consisting of 1 Namenode and 3 Datanodes each being represented by a 19″ Rack H2 Server, connected with at least 1Gbit Networking, and about 32GB of RAM and 8-16Cores XEON CPUs.

Before the hardware arrives, as a first test so to speak, we set up 6 desktop office PCs running VirtualBox by Oracle, therefore using CentOS and Cloudera’s CDH to set up one namenode and five datanodes.

We have experienced difficulties choosing a feasible data format to save trace data. We are looking into ASCII files representing Binary. This certainly is ‚funny‘ but it may just be the right thing. On the other hand we must find the answer, how we can make hdfs know custom line breaks in order to split up files in blocks for binary files. How Yarn will work with binary files is still an unknown issue. We may have updates next week.

New Look!

After a long time using WordPress‘ default picture, we came up with a new look.

The reason behind the new and original look is that we plan to restructure our business to meet the needs of the modern eMerchant, but also delve into the possibilities of cloud computing.

Our strong focus on mathematics (after all Mr. Blank has a Ph.D. in math!) makes us feel that supercomputing and parallel computing are no longer only restricted to big institutions but may as well be used even by individuals and small businesses. Cloud computing gives the option to call upon gigantic clusters instantiated on demand with only little installation and initializion overhead. After all, affordable supercomputing may be a great advantage to small companies, that aren’t so sure about whether to invest a lot into numerical analysis of their products.

We are also updating our portfolio and our track record. You might want to contact us if you feel like you could need some advise and / or software enginieering.

Take care and have fun!
